BLIS is an acronym for Bacteriocin Like Inhibitory Substances. Certain strains of micro-organisms produce BLIS substances, which act as natural antibiotics and control the growth of undesirable bacterial infections. The first such substance which BLIS has developed is from a micro-organism called Streptococcus salivarius, which produces an antibacterial protein named Salivaricin B, which is a BLIS, hence the company's name BLIS Technologies Limited.
